Recycling work: How to convert a Hairband into a Brooch/clip

Dont we all just love rosettes. I believe that there is no better way to welcome spring than with flowers. So keeping in mind my theme for this month - Reinvention or Re purposed jewelry, I would now like to show you a quick way to whip up a rosette brooch/clip in less than 15 minutes (10 with practice :).
I have used an old hairband (pony tailer) that had gotten elongated because of use. It can no longer be used as a band but that is what makes it great for this project.
Hairband brooch/Clip

Materials required:
- old hair band with elastic,
- a shank button (I have used a stone studded shank button that I have with me from my MG days),
- Some seed beads or micro beads
- Clear Glue
- sewing thread and needle
- A piece of felt
- A brooch pin/safety pin or a Barret (depending on whether you want to make a brooch or a hair clip)

T-shirt Scarf Tutorial

My Readers,
Time for a super easy tutorial. I'm giving away one of my secrets so get ready! This is a simple jersey scarf made from a plain t-shirt. I get mine for $1-$2 at the thrift store. That is all this craft will cost you!
Here's what you need: an old men/women's XL t-shirt (XXL works too), scissors, and a flat space to work. Easy, right?

Rrecycling: How to make blooming bib

In my search for the perfect colorful accessory I came across this T-shirt that I bought from theDollar Tree,
the color was just right so I started to cut. I took pictures along the way in case it turned out kind of cool.
I'm glad I did because I LOVE IT! So now I can share it with all you pretties!

Supplies:
1-2 Sheets of Felt (depending on how big you want your necklace to be)
Needle and Thread
A Dollar Store T-shirt (or an old one around the house)
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors

Here are the 6 easy steps:

Tutorial: Flowers Make Me Melt

This is super simple and fun to make.

Supplies-

  • A scrap of polyester fabric.  Look at the label on the end of the bolt.  It will tell you the fiber content of the material.  I only bought 100% polyester.  There was cotton/poly, but I didn't want to take the chances of starting a fire.  I like to shop the remnant section.  The fabric is usually marked down to half price because it was the end of the bolt.

My children made these for Chinese New Year at school and they loved making them so much we had them hanging in the house for weeks afterwards. They also make great decorations for parties held in the house or the garden.

Tutorial and Pattern: Rainbow Sunshine Plushie (and a little fair[l]y [ugly] tale about patents)

I want to begin this tutorial with a little story. One day there was a little organic cotton rainbow be-ribboned plushie that was sketched and then stitched with love in a very messy upstairs room in a home somewhere in Minneapolis. It was a happy little plushie, made all the more so by the creation of its 3 identical siblings who sat on a sunny windowsill with the little plushie, keeping it company

Pom pom maker

pompomtut1
This is a tutorial for making pom-poms using your
fingers. This one is a small, two-finger pom-pom
(about 1" in diameter) but you can make bigger ones
by using more fingers. As far as yarn choice, thinner
and softer yarn will make a more pleasing pom-pom.
